1940 was the first year for these mesmerizing full-size Buicks, which were produced on GM’s C Body platform (shared with Cadillac Series 62 and Oldsmobile 90). This really is a stunning vehicle and although cosmetic repairs have been done, it retains a lot of value by remaining mostly original.
Painted in “Casino Beige”, your friends will think you’ve hit the jackpot when they see you rolling in this drop top Super 8. The fender skirts, split windshield and Firestone white wall tires are a sign of the times but this car wouldn’t be the same without them.
This Buick Super 8’s convertible top has new fabric and comes with a matching Tan boot cover for a finishing touch.
Under the dual side opening hood is Buick’s 248 “Fireball” inline 8-cylinder motor that purrs into life every time you push the start button. Yes, this 1940 vehicle has a “push to start” that replaces the traditional floor starter and almost passes off as a factory original item! A 3-speed “three on the tree” manual transmission with the shifter located on the column is authentic and has the benefit of adding room inside this ‘40 Buick.
It wouldn’t be right to overlook some of the quirky interior features of this luxo-barge either; luxurious Red leather bench seats front and rear, the steering wheel looks like it came out of a sailing boat and is covered in chrome with a horn ring, the equally bright chrome dash with stock gauges/instruments and the large clock on the passenger side with functioning AM radio.
Perhaps the most notable time capsule feature is the ashtray and lighter built into the dash and the two additional ashtrays for back seat passengers.. oh, how times have changed! This vehicle has been in the same family for many years and has been loved and taken care of.
