1941 Packard 160 Coupe

. ’41 was a breakthrough year for Packard styling, with the first headlights streamlined into the fender. . Love the bumpergards. Note the excellent radial whitewalls. The CCCA recently made appropriate looking radial whitewalls acceptable in judging – they look great, and they make a huge improvement in the driving experience! . Beautiful! Note the deluxe wheelcovers that extend the chrome over the inner wheel. . Here’s a closer look at the wheelcovers . The deep Packard Maroon paint is a perfect choice for a sporty coupe . Sreamline Moderne Packard tail lights, and rear bumperguard . This is a car that can be toured without hesitation! It’ll keep up with freeway traffic, the brakes are the powerful hydraulic original design drums. The 1941 Packard 160 was ahead of it’s time, the engine and chassis configuration took Packard all the way to 1950 – because it was so well engineered! The driving feel is modern, stable and sure. . The interior is freshly and correctly done, with leather and whipcord combination . All of the woodgraining has been correctly and beautifully redone, it’s spectacular! This view also shows the carefully adapted A/C and Heater box. . And here are the cleverly done A/C and heater controls, done with Packard plastic knobs! And look how nice the plastic is! Rear seat, lovely with the leather and whipcord. . Excellent woodgrained rear window trim, and excellent headlining. . Beautiful interior . Beautiful! . Nice leather wrapped steering wheel . Nice instruments, they all work properly. This car was professionally converted to 12 volts, and care was taken to make sure the system works like it should. . Really pretty inside! . Here’s the 356 Straight 8. A marvel of engineering, with counterweighted crankshaft, nine main bearings, and gobs of torque. This one runs great! . Here’s the carburetor and manifold side, with the dual throat downdraft Stromberg carburetor. . Here’s a view of the original oil filter, the 12 volt alternator, and hidden below the alternator, the modern style A/C compressor. you’ll note the car has a dual belt, so the crank pulley was custom made to accomodate the dual pulley. . Here’s the original hood ornament. . The paint on the car is older, and does show some flaws here and there. There’s a ding on the front fender, as well as what look like crack repairs at the fender edge on both front fenders. So it would lose points at a concours, but the real greatness of this car is how nicely it will drive on the tours! . The trunk is spacious and nicely trimmed. . A great looking car! . Super! . Room for 4, room for luggage, plenty of power, ready to enjoy right now! .
