Welcome to Street Dreams as we celebrate our 23rd year in the classic and muscle car business. Here’s one you won’t see every day. How about this amazing Bamboo Yellow 1948 Crosley CC Wagon? Largely forgotten today, these historically important automobiles were, unfortunately, about 30 years ahead of their time. Powel Crosley Jr. made his fortune manufacturing automotive parts, radios, and refrigerators as well as in radio broadcasting. Profits from these ventures allowed Crosley to pursue his lifelong desire to manufacture automobiles. The CC, along with the Frazer/Kaiser, was the first mass-produced car with an ‘envelope’ or ‘ponton’ body as well as the first mass-produced overhead cam engine. This little jewel is powered by a unique CoBra (copper brazed) 724cc OHC I4 engine that is a marvel to behold and a hoot to drive. Additional features include a 3-speed manual transmission, new 5.20-12 tires, and a recently freshened chassis. Here are a couple of fun facts:1) The car is 48″ wide so that a Crosley could be driven into a department store and sold next to the refrigerators, and 2) I am a 6’5″ 58-year-old geezer who can comfortably fit in the front AND the back of this car! Also, some people are stunned to learn that this overachiever was built in Indiana, not the U.K. If you’re interested in this important piece of Americana, call the team that that can make your dream a reality.
